Although I did not have a journalist's portfolio, I was always very careful not to mix the production of content with advertising, guiding myself, while blogger, on editorial principles similar to those of journalists (and sometimes more restrictive than many journalists). In this document, I will try to explain some of the guidelines that I Alma de Viajante, as well as the type of partnerships I agree to make.
Editorial and commercial practices
To be honest, I ignore most of the requests for "partnerships" that come to hand. Sometimes because they are not true partnerships (only brands trying to get links or free advertising), others because they do not even bother to read these lines.
If you really want to work with me, know beforehand that I greatly appreciate my editorial independence. and that I do not sacrifice my credibility for a few hundred or thousands of euros. I earn less, but I sleep better. Let us then by parts:
#1 Press trips vs individual campaigns
Until recently I have accepted to integrate groups of press trips with the aim of producing content about destinations. It turns out it's a way to travel with which I do not identify myself, so I made the decision to, with very few exceptions, no longer do press trips group.
The truth is that I do not have the patience to travel with large groups of journalists or bloggers, no matter how interesting people are, or to have lunch with official entities and other clothes. It is on my own that I live the richest experiences, that I mix with the local populations, that I know better the destinies; and with that, I have better raw material to write and share with readers like you! Yes, the best way to produce quality content that reflects my experiences is traveling independently.
If you are part of a DMO (Destination Manager Organization) or an airline, for example, feel free to contact me. But do this to invite me to participate in a press trip with three or four means (I do not participate in trips with large groups) or, even better, for let's put together a well structured campaign that will lead me to know the destination - independently and in my own style - and thereby inspire the many readers of the Alma de Viajante to visit them as well.
The content will be more original and authentic, and your ROI will surely be much higher. Note, however, that it does not work for free - see the media kit and depois write me to share your ideas and know my rates. Typically, a campaign includes several posts No. blog and promoting them on social networks and the Pinterest search engine.
Note: this position does not reflect any type of conviction or judgment of group press trips. It's just my choice because of my travel style and what I think is best for readers.
#2 Sponsored posts
As in the case of press trips, it is very rare Alma de Viajante agree to do posts sponsored, such as reviews of products or services.
For the sake of transparency with the readers, all posts are sponsored.
#3 Social Networking
O Alma de Viajante accept publish posts on their social networks - namely Facebook, Twitter and Instagram - in partnership with brands or destinations.
#4 Infographics / Publishers
Let's be clear. O Alma de Viajante does not publish - and never published! - infographics or publications written by third parties, as a rule, communication agencies and marketing on behalf of its customers. As good as it may be, it's out of the question. For more quality of the article, please do not send it. They are not exempt or disinterested. And they almost always aim to "plant" a link for the customer. I do not do this. Score!
For all this, do not contact me by offering such an article - I will not respond.
#5 Other partnerships
If you manage an ideal and environmentally responsible brand and have concrete ideas for working with me, write me. There are many interesting things that can be done without pinching my editorial independence and credibility, among which are the dynamization of the social networks of the brand with unique content or the figure of "ambassador" of the brand. I prefer prolonged relationships to sporadic actions. Be creative and present your ideas. But do not write to me to propose partnerships in exchange for "disclosure".
#6 Ads and links
For the benefit of readers and advertisers, Alma de Viajante advertising spaces (except perhaps in the early days, where website had several Google Adsense ads). I have now decided to raise these restrictions to the limit:
to Alma de Viajante is today um website PULL banners advertising.
b) O Alma de Viajante does not participate in "link schemes", as defined in Google guidelines on link schemes. That is, not seeing or exchanging links, among other schemes.
c) O Alma de Viajante does not participate in ad networks.
As always, my biggest commitment is to readers and I am not available to pinch the trust and credibility established over the past 16 years.
#7 Advertising on newsletter
O Alma de Viajante has a base of more than 20.000 subscribers via e-mail 100% Opt-in - being therefore a highly qualified public. On average, I send only two to three messages a month to subscribers, free of advertising. That is, currently I'm not accepting to put banners in messages.
#8 Conferences and other events
With regard to participation in conferences:
to Alma de Viajante can participate in the quality of the press (it is increasingly common bloggers be invited along with the traditional media) in some events promoted by partners or other companies, without receiving payment for it.
b) O Filipe Morato Gomes accepts invitations to participate in conferences, trade shows or meetings bloggers / bloggers. Being invited to give a lecture, workshop or participate in a table or panel (or any form of work at the event), you agree that your travel and accommodation expenses are borne by the organization and you agree to be remunerated for your participation. The eventual payment refers to the work in the event, without any commitment of later articles to produce on the event itself or the destination where it occurs.
But then, how does the Alma de Viajante win money?
With so many restrictions, it is normal to wonder how the Alma de Viajante survives. The answer is simple: with the complicity of the readers.
If a reader benefits from the inspiration I convey to you, take advantage of the tips and help you plan your trip - all on free, ads-free pages - it's natural that you're available to reciprocate by using the links from affiliates to book the services you need to complete your travels, using companies that I use (and recommend) myself.
In all these partnerships, the reader pays no more than one cent for using the links available on the blog to make your reservations, and the Alma de Viajante receives a tiny commission each time it happens. Not much, but I prefer it instead of flooding the blog with commercials and posts payments.
Finally, I also organize workshops Travel Writing Tools.
I repeat what I wrote at the beginning: I earn less, but I sleep better. AND readers can trust that everything I write is sincere and heartfelt., not because they pay me to write it.
